Ian Brownlee received his BFA from the Atlanta College of Art in 1999 and continued his studies at California College of the Arts in Oakland, California. After a time spent in the Pacific Northwest, the artist relocated to the Blue Ridge Mountains to focus on painting the natural beauty of our area. Especially his favorite, Pisgah National Forest.
“My works are part of an ongoing series of landscapes inspired by the most evocative season – fall. I don’t include much detail; I try to keep it simple and immediate. I have a goal in mind when I begin a painting but it always goes in a different direction, so I follow and let it surprise me.”
Ian Brownlee was selected as one of the designated artists in New American Paintings, 2006
